The Ebb and Flow of Movies

I was amazed by this interactive infographic, The Ebb and Flow of Movies: Box Office Receipts 1986-2008, when it just published on the New York Times on February 23, 2008. Till now, it is still cool to read it from an information design perspective for its illustrative and playful representation. With data sources from Baseline Studio Systems and Box Office Mojo, this infographic not only shows box office revenues over time, but also “how movies have fared at the box office” throughout the economics swifting. Designed by Mathew Bloch, Lee Byron, Shan Carter and Amanda Cox, this visual is also a great resource for review those memorable films since 1986 to 2008, and I wish to see it continue to grow.
